As one of the newer members, I have been diving with DSAC for a year now. I’ve suffered lately with anxiety under the water for all sorts of reasons, and feared diving with anyone other than my instructor Dave.
After 29 dives, 10 of those in the North Sea – I now feel confident in my own ability as an Ocean Diver and have had 3 successful sea dives this Bank Holiday, two of those with our other Dave (known in the club as Little Dave 😉), one of our experienced Dive Leaders.
The point is, everyone learns at their own pace and not everyone can jump to sports diver and do 30m straight away. That’s fine, because DSAC support all levels and competencies of divers to achieve their own personal goals, in their own time.
The instructors, assistant instructors and dive leaders here are all fantastic, with a great range of skills and experience…and a lot of patience.
So if you’re feeling scared or worried about learning something new or not being able to qualify straight away, don’t be.
