Learn to Dive

We provide a full BSAC Diver Training Programme through a combination of theory, pool sessions, open water skills. Diving skills are taught progressively so that each new experience is built upon step-by-step. This approach enables you to develop your diving in a safe and enjoyable way at your own pace.

There are five internationally-recognised BSAC diver grades, from the entry level Ocean Diver through to First Class Diver. In addition to the core qualifications, we also offer a range of Skill Development Courses such as Drysuit training, Twin Set Diving, Diver First Aid and many others.

What does it all cost?

To train and qualify with Doncaster Sub Aqua Club will cost you around £250. Quite simply you pay an annual BSAC registration fee, plus an annual branch subscription. On top of your BSAC and branch fees are costs per qualification training pack - between £20 and £40. There'll also be odd equipment hire and entrance to open water dive sites. Overall that's the best value scuba training you'll find!!!

The annual club membership fees are listed below. We can reduce costs for family/dual membership, and payments can be spread across the year. Your membership includes access to the pool, club equipment, Instructors, and, opportunities to attend diving trips and social events.

Training with Doncaster Sub Aqua Club

Our diver training is delivered by DBS-checked and BSAC-qualified instructors over a series of weekly Wednesday evening sessions at Hall Cross School and our own clubhouse.

Once pool and theory work is completed then we progress to open water training at inland dive sites such as Capernwray and Eight Acre Lake.

Ocean Diver Course

If you’ve always wanted to learn how to dive, this course is for you. This course is for beginners and provides the essential knowledge and skills needed to prepare for open water diving.

The BSAC Ocean Diver course prepares for this in the safety of a swimming pool or sheltered water and an introduction to open water in a controlled, safe manner. Experience and confidence will be gained under the guidance of a qualified instructor. Maximum depth - 20m.

Training pack cost is £129.50 (in addition to club membership and pool use for 1 year)

Sports Diver Course

BSAC Sports Diver training builds on the scuba skills you learnt in the Ocean Diver course (or entry level qualification from another agency) and helps develop your confidence, skills and experience in the water to allow you to enjoy a wider range of diving sites and conditions.

Qualified BSAC Sports Divers can dive with other Ocean Divers or higher grade divers. Depth can be built progressively from 20m to a maximum of 35m after qualifying.

Training pack cost is £22 (in addition to club membership and pool use for 1 year).

Dive Leader Course

As a BSAC Dive Leader you are are becoming an expert in your field of dive leadership. You will also be competent in planning dives for groups of divers and managing diving on the day including, if necessary, managing rescue situations.

This comprehensive course is a mix of classroom-based and practical lessons that will give divers confidence to plan, lead and manage dives, and deal with emergencies. After qualifying, and if you wish, depth can be built progressively to a maximum of 50m - this is the safe diving limit for breathing on normal air.  Depth can be increased by qualifying under additional mixed gas courses.

Training pack cost is £32 (in addition to club membership and pool use for 1 year).

Advanced Diver Course

As a BSAC Advanced Diver you are a highly qualified branch diver. This course is for divers who are interested in extending still further their skills in planning and supervising diving groups, rescue management skills, whilst building seamanship and developing further leadership qualities.

The BSAC Advanced Diver course develops knowledge and skills. Divers gain experience in planning dives at different sites and circumstances. Additional skills will be gained in using small boats, chartwork and navigation and many other related skills.

Training pack cost is £22 (in addition to club membership and pool use for 1 year).
